Unlike the other countries where there are many Catholics (like the Philippines), the Church in Japan cannot depend on Sunday mass collections and stipends alone for its subsistence. That is why in Japan we have a tithe system (called “Ijihi” , in Japanese) where monthly contributions are required of the parishioners. This is separate from what we give during the collection at mass. We are all called to help the Church in whatever way we can. Your monthly donation will go a long way in sustaining the local church and helping spread the Gospel in Japan. You can inquire at the parish office how to go about giving your monthly donations.
Let us trust in the Lord and believe that He will give back to us much more than we could ever give. Thank you and God bless you all.
